We start our dive into the Yamas (ethical, external observances) with an exploration of Ahimsa, or non-harming, which is regarded in the Sutras of Patanjali as the most important of the yamas. The inquiry of this practice invites students to explore the embodiment of Ahimsa before offering it out to others, by acknowledging the kindness and non-harming we can offer ourselves more of. Practice builds progressively to hip and shoulder opening, and attention to activation of the core cylinder at the midline, via a journey to Eagle Pose (Garudasana).
